The Airlite Monolithic Prosthesis has become well accepted as the "ultimate in ultra lightweight and low cost". During the design and engineering of this artificial limb, our goal was to create an endoskeletal prosthesis that was easy to fabricate, strong and durable. The Airlite is made from a braided carbon fiber material and when combined with resin it produces a plastic that is pound for pound stronger than steel. The AIRLITE prosthesis is fabricated using a unique process that incorporates a carbon composite ankle block. (See Airlite Monolithic technical manual) The AIRLITE prosthesis is available with a fixed ankle (AB1) or an alignable ankle (AB2 or AB3). The AB2 alignable ankle incorporates the same laminating procedure, while allowing for +/- 10 degrees of dorsi or plantar flexion by using alignment wedges. The AB3 alignable ankle allows for dorsi and plantar flexion, inversion and eversion, as well as toe in and toe out. The Airlite prosthesis is available as a Starter Kit or components can be purchased separately. The result is a prosthesis weighing an incredibly minimal 1 1/2 to 2 pounds.
